Our Beliefs
What We Believe
At The Foundation Church, we believe in the truth of God's Word and are committed to living out its teachings through faith, community, and service. Our beliefs are grounded in the Christian Reformed faith, shaped by the Bible, and lived out through grace.
The Bible: Our Ultimate Authority
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the ultimate authority for all matters of faith and practice. Scripture is infallible, and we hold that it reveals God's truth for salvation, spiritual growth, and daily living.
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." – 2 Timothy 3:16
As a Bible-focused church, we prioritize teaching and preaching from the Word of God in all our services, events, and ministries.

God: One in Essence, Three in Person
- We believe in the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is one in essence but exists in three distinct persons who are co-equal and co-eternal. This truth is central to our understanding of God’s nature and His relationship with us.
- God the Father – The Creator and Sustainer of all things.
- God the Son – Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, the Savior of the world.
- God the Holy Spirit – The Comforter and Helper, empowering believers to live for God’s glory.
- "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." – Deuteronomy 6:4
Jesus Christ: Our Savior and Lord
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who became human, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and was resurrected for our justification. His death and resurrection are the foundation of our salvation and the source of eternal life for all who believe in Him.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." – John 3:16
Jesus is the only way to salvation, and through His sacrifice, we are reconciled to God.

Jesus is the only way to salvation, and through His sacrifice, we are reconciled to God.
Salvation: By Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone
We believe that salvation is a gift from God and cannot be earned by human effort or good deeds. It is by God's grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, that anyone can be saved. Salvation is freely offered to all who repent and believe in the gospel.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." – Ephesians 2:8-9
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." – Ephesians 2:8-9
The Holy Spirit: Empowering Believers
We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells within all believers, guiding, empowering, and transforming them to live according to God's will. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, brings understanding of Scripture, and equips believers for service in the Kingdom of God.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses..." – Acts 1:8
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses..." – Acts 1:8
The Church: A Community of Believers
- We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, called to gather for worship, fellowship, teaching, and service. The Church is not just a building but a community of believers committed to growing in faith, sharing the gospel, and living out Christ’s love in the world.
- "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it." – 1 Corinthians 12:27
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
We believe in the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper as instituted by Christ. These are outward signs of God's grace, representing the believer’s identification with Christ and participation in His life, death, and resurrection.
Baptism – A sign and seal of God’s covenant promises, symbolizing the washing away of sin and the believer’s entrance into the community of faith. The Lord’s Supper – A sacred meal commemorating Christ’s body and blood, taken in remembrance of His sacrifice for our sins. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..." – Matthew 28:19"This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." – 1 Corinthians 11:24

The Return of Christ: The Hope of Glory
We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ. We anticipate His return to fully establish God's Kingdom, bringing final judgment, justice, and the renewal of all things. Our hope rests in the certainty of this promise and the eternal life we will enjoy with Him.
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." – John 14:3

The Mission: Growing God's Kingdom
We believe that as followers of Christ, we are called to be His witnesses, both locally and globally. Our mission is to share the gospel, rescue the lost, and empower the community through Christ’s love. We are committed to outreach and service, working to grow God's Kingdom by bringing the hope of the gospel to the world.

Christian Reformed Faith: Rooted in Tradition, Focused on Mission
- The Foundation Church is rooted in the Christian Reformed tradition, a branch of the Protestant Reformation that emphasizes God’s sovereignty, the authority of Scripture, and the importance of community life. While we hold to these historic teachings, we are also committed to outreach, growth, and living out our faith in practical ways.
Creeds and Confessions: Anchored in Historic Christian Faith
At The Foundation Church, we hold to the historic creeds and confessions of the Christian Reformed tradition. These documents have been a source of unity and clarity for centuries, helping the Church articulate its understanding of Scripture and essential doctrines. We embrace the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort.
These creeds and confessions affirm the core truths of our faith and serve as guides for our beliefs and practices. They reflect our commitment to the authority of Scripture and to living out the teachings of Jesus Christ.
